Mentor Program

The mentor program is designed to guide teams through the rigorous vehicle inspection process, including a series of safety inspections which tend to cause high failure rates. Teams have the opportunity to form working relationships with automotive professionals who will provide advice and expertise, preparing for a successful competition. It is our goal to have all registered teams paired with a mentor by the close of registration in November 2019. We will ask each team to complete this mentor form and upload it onto the Formula Hybrid document upload page. If you would like a mentor sooner than November, please complete the form and send it to our upload page so we can connect your team with a mentor.

What is a Mentor?

A team mentor is an expert in the field of automotive engineering who is willing to spend time helping guide a Formula Hybrid team. Mentors will coach teams during the months leading up to the competition, monitoring progress and assisting with technical advice. A mentor’s purpose is to help the team arrive at the event with a completed, track-worthy vehicle that is ready to pass technical inspection and compete in the dynamic events.

Teams begin to work with mentors as early as the month of August and continue through to the end of the competition. Mentors check in with teams regularly, either via phone, email, or video conferencing.
