Formula Hybrid+Electric teams design and build hybrid race cars that must pass strict safety inspections prior to competing. The staff of Formula Hybrid+Electric provides support and answers questions. Our volunteer mentors are trained professionals who provide technical guidance throughout the build.
Get out of the classroom and put your engineering education to work by designing, building and testing a real hybrid vehicle. Considered the most ambitious of the Society of Automotive Engineers Collegiate Design Series competitions, Formula Hybrid+Electric brings teams of students from around the world together to compete at an international speedway. Recruiters attend to scout engineering talent for leading companies in the automotive industry.
Teams generally spend at least eight months building and preparing their vehicles. Cars must have either a mechanical-electrical hybrid or electric-only drivetrain and pass our rigorous safety inspections. Beyond that, teams are free to express their creativity with few restrictions on the overall vehicle design.
